ABSTRACT
One of the ideas raised in Chapter 1 was that engagement requires vulnerability to change, both on the part of the students and the teacher. In this chapter, I reflect on my own journey of developing skill with managing the engagement of learners and consider some of the issues around listening and hearing in the classroom. I conclude by briefly touching on insights from psychoanalysis in terms of working in groups.
