ABSTRACT

The safety of students and educators on a campus is a large responsibility for any educator but of particular interest of the campus administrators and especially school resource officers (SROs). This chapter presents a case study that focuses on a relationship between two students that has deteriorated. This relationship becomes a disaster. Basketball season is always full of excitement at Ortega High School (OHS) because both the boy's and girl's basketball teams are in the playoffs for the state champions. All students on a campus must be considered when creating a crisis plan. This includes students with disabilities; educators must consider "the diverse range of intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development among children with disabilities". Crises will occur on campuses. Preparing for as many variables before the crises occur may help to prevent or lessen the damage of a crisis.
