ABSTRACT

Probably the strongest financial plans are developed when the client is deeply involved and informed about the issues, and seeks out professional consultation in the design and implementation of the financial plan. This is not unlike effective psychotherapy with an informed, interested patient who is willing to invest in treatment with a professional psychotherapist rather than going it alone. Psychotherapy is more than a profession, more than a behavioral science. It is a way of life that most of us find incredibly meaningful, heartfelt and rewarding. A Buddhist approach to working with the financial issues in our lives and practices would embrace a feeling tone of compassion, self-acceptance, and self-exploration. If you can embrace such a feeling state, then the financial dimension of your practice can transform from a source of anxiety to a source of excitement, self-care, creativity, and self-development.
