ABSTRACT

Perched above Sheeld’s main railway station, overlooking the city from its hill-top position, is Park Hill, the notorious complex of honeycomb-shaped council housing slabs. After decades of neglect, degradation and decay, the complex nally entered a process of regeneration in the 2000s. The project has been led by the urban regeneration specialists Urban Splash. Despite a backlash by some Sheeld residents and politicians who preferred demolition to regeneration, the project has been favourably received.1
