ABSTRACT

Editing and revising are the most essential skills for improving the quality of our expression, whether in classical writing or in modern media production. However, there are some inherent policy problems that make it challenging for our learners to become independent editors and revisers. This chapter begins by examining writing and then discusses the media production. It establishes appropriate expectations for the development of students' editing and revision skills according to their developmental level. The goal is that each student will eventually learn to work independently on the designated editing and revision tasks at each of these levels. The use of rubrics is widespread as a means of providing feedback to students on their work. The chapter focuses on writing with the development of a rubric pool. It also considers the development of a specific, collaboratively designed media rubric determined directly by the nature of the product and the tool to be used.
