ABSTRACT

The key medium for motivating employees and gaining their commitment to lean quality is face-to-face communication and visible management commitment. Training in the workplace can provide a powerful stimulus for personal development; it should be a productive improvement for the capacity of the organization as well. Value-focused companies realize that to attract and retain the best people, they have to help them to develop to reach their potential. Every organization should define its policy in relation to education and training. The policy should contain principles and goals to provide a framework within which learning experiences may be planned and operated. Construction organizations have a particular problem: site staff tend to be completely focused on the delivery process. The effective implementation of education and training programmes demands considerable commitment and adjustment by the trainers and trainees, alike. Training is a progressive process that must take into account any learning problems of the trainees.
