ABSTRACT

During the year that I was working on the third edition of this book I was also supporting the son of a friend of mine with his GCSE mathematics. He has Asperger’s syndrome and this has led to him missing large parts of his schooling and being placed in special units for substantial amounts of his time at school. Unsurprisingly, his mock examination results suggested that he was unlikely to gain the ‘C’ that is necessary to progress into higher education as many colleges and universities now require grade ’C’ or equivalent for a place on any course.
