ABSTRACT

The United Nations (UN) General Assembly Resolution of 29 November 1947 is the document to which above all others Israel has referred as the basis of her constitutional legitimacy; her spiritual legitimacy has rested on other grounds. The State of Israel is ready to co-operate with the organs and representatives of the UN in the implementation of the Resolution of the Assembly of 29 November 1947, and to take steps to bring about the Economic Union over the whole of Palestine. The period between the adoption by the General Assembly of its recommendation on the question of Palestine and the establishment of the independence of the Arab and Jewish States shall be a transitional period. The administration of Palestine shall, as the mandatory Power withdraws its armed forces, be progressively turned over to the Commission, which shall act in conformity with the recommendations of the General Assembly, under the guidance of the Security Council.
