ABSTRACT
An brief introduction to learning analytics. First, foundational concepts and the goals of learning analytics are discussed. The chapter then reviews techniques of learning analytics for teachers. The five steps of capture, report, predict, act, and refine are then presented as guides for the implementation of learning analytics. The remainder of the chapter describes two examples from the learning sciences literature.
