ABSTRACT
The tea house, designed and completed between 1958 and 1963, represents one of the first and certainly the most well-known works of Siza’s early production. The Municipality of Matosinhos launched the competition in 1956 for a narrow stretch of land between the coastal road and the ocean. Tavora, Siza’s mentor, was assigned the work and chose to locate the building on a rocky terrain facing down towards the seafront. He asked to his pupil to develop the project. 11
