ABSTRACT
Born in Chungking and raised in Taiwan, Zhong Ling received her BA in English literature from Tunghai University in Taiwan and her PhD in comparative literature at the University of Wisconsin. She was the first to introduce Chinese women's poetry to Western readers when she collaborated with Kenneth Rexroth in editing and translating this poetry in the anthology Orchid Boat: Women Poets of China. Among her other publications are a book of prose and verse, Many Mountains Are Calling Me, a volume of poems, The Fragrant Sea, and the first comprehensive critical work of women's poetry in Taiwan, Contemporary Chinese Muse.
