ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the interview with Sherrie Cornett who is one of the lead Grooves facilitators. At Dreyer's, the Grooves are living, breathing, and evolving values that are taken to heart by the employees. The Grooves and how they are inculcated is a perfect example of the communication and learning principles. Lots of companies adopt admirable tenets, but few succeed in the way Dreyer's does in truly actualizing them. Dreyer's has been successful in tapping into the personal channel of their Communications Matrix. Sherrie is aware of using stories in a training event. She recognizes the potential of incorporating stories as an integral part of one's communication and leadership style, but finds it difficult to actualize. Sherrie struggles with what many of us have difficulty understanding in regards to how to work with stories. Reflection is a very personal thing and Sherrie reminds us that is not something everyone either wants to do or share with others.
