ABSTRACT

The everlasting God knows the past and the present. Such a God can know the future only insofar as it is determined by the way things are in the universe now. If, therefore, human beings only have the freedom to act in accordance with their determined nature, then it would be possible for the everlasting God to know the future. The view of God as everlasting with His omniscience restricted to knowledge of past and present truths as well as future true statements that are directly due to present events emphasises the personality of God and is easy to understand. The timeless God has all time simultaneously presented to Him so that events which are past, present and future are all alike present to Him. Talk of omniscience is talk about people's inability to evade the reality against which their lives must be measured. People's knowledge is essentially temporal, while God's knowledge is timeless.
