ABSTRACT
What can the law teach us about gender? What role does the law play in limiting and/or promoting gender equality?
In this chapter, we consider gender issues affecting the practice of law; explore a number of legal principles important for realizing gender equality; review laws relevant to sexual harassment, discrimination, and rape; explain what the law says about battered woman syndrome; and look at the law and parental rights, including divorce laws and their impact on child custody.
