ABSTRACT

Market participants and analysts take pride in the sophistication, breadth, and depth of V.S. capital and credit markets. No other national market offers so extensive a "menu" of finandal assets, and none has such well-developed and liquid secondary markets. The efficiency, ease, and relatively low cost of transactions, coupled with V.S. political stability and the relative strength of the U.S. economy, were important factors in attracting foreign investors in the 1980s.
