If you are writing with a doctoral student, the game changes. The expectation is that you will be the senior author but that you can assign nearly any task to the doctoral student. This is one important way for them to learn and provide evidence of learning. You can treat a doctoral student almost the same way as a full coll eague, wi th the understanding that the responsibil ity is still yours-you are the instructor, sharing your wisdom, knowledge, and skills (and evaluating the work of the student).
