ABSTRACT

We have all seen videos of case classes where students are jumping oul of their seats with enthusiasm, waving their arms in the air, and breaking in on one another's statements while the instructor stroll s around the room, watching and inserting the occasional wise word. If you have not taught wi th cases before this and you think that your class is going to behave like the one in the video, guess again. Yes, there are classes that exhibit high engagement, s houting out arguments that are both reasoned and passionate. But this does not happen every time a case is discussed, even in that enthusiastic and excited class. And the instructor is more likely to be recording the discussion on the board and making sense of the often random comments that arise during the discussion than strollin g around looking wise.
