ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the motivations, purposes, and goals of collaboration are complex and do not necessarily match the reality of collaborative behavior. Organizations can take several approaches to providing housing and related services, ranging from distinct and categorical to more integrative and holistic approaches. Nonprofit organizations enter into collaborations and partnerships for a variety of reasons in order to fulfill their goal of providing housing services. Collaboration and coordinated networks become even more important for faith-based organizations (FBOs) and other nonprofit organizations as they face increased challenges in efforts to provide housing units and associated support services. Organizations that indicate collaboration enhances their ability to serve their clients tend to believe it is important to collaborate in order to influence state and local policy.
