ABSTRACT

Organizational ecology and demography is a theory concerned with various topical subject matters, a number of which focus on themes within strategic management (see Baum, Dobrev, and van Witteloostuijn 2006). These treatments include entrepreneurship (see Ruef 2006), top management teams (see Boone, Wezel, and van Witteloostuijn 2006), organizational change (see Singh 2006), organizational learning (see Greve and Rao 2006), technology strategy (see Bigelow 2006), competitive strategy (see Negro and Sorenson 2006), cooperative strategy (see Pozner and Rao 2006), scale and scope (see Wezel and van Witteloostuijn 2006), and industry evolution (see Khessina 2006). Such topics may include much from organizational behavior as well, and as we will see, there are other topics that are related more directly to organizational behavior. In any event it is important to recognize that the theory has much to say that is within the purview of strategic management.
