ABSTRACT
Fleet services, including preventive maintenance and repair of city vehicles and other municipal equipment, occasionally is a service contracted with a private shop, but more often it is the responsibility of a central, municipally operated garage. Because the availability of reliable equipment is crucial to municipal departments, the demand for quality service is great. With municipal resources stretched thin and with the availability of private sector alternatives, there also is pressure for efficient service delivery.
