ABSTRACT
In January 1920 I came to Tamluk and was enchanted. This little town was at one time a flourishing river port, famous for its temple dedicated to Bhima Devi—another aspect of Durga. Our bungalow had a wide veranda which looked out over a spacious lawn and the gleaming waters of the Rupnarayan River.
