ABSTRACT
Chinese philosopher and teacher whose views of proper social conduct, government, and ethical behavior have formed the moral and cultural basis of Chinese civilization for more than 2,000 years. He is also known as Kongfuzi or Kung Fu-tzu. Confucius’ ideas also profoundly influenced neighboring cultures in Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, and they remain central to modern Chinese and East Asian society.
