A fine sunny afternoon, and a lO-year-old boy comes home from school. Returning to his room on the second floor of his wooden house in a residential area in Tokyo, he suddenly bursts into tears-there in his room sits Doraemon, a large, bright blue robot cat whose ears are missing but who fully comprehends the trials and emotional crises of tender childhood. Doraemon's round hand immediately searches his front pocket for the fantastic high-tech gadgets that will most effectively help the boy deal with the harsh realities of everyday life.'
