ABSTRACT

Among many budding entrepreneurial prospects in Asia is a new type of doll that has already begun to attract attention and publicity. While many types of dolls adorn the market, these new Nenita dolls are distinguished by their intricate and detailed work, which is in itself a wonder. The creation of designer Patis Tesoro, the dolls represent facets of Filipino life; encased in protective glass cases, they are shown in

several tableaux that depict quaint pastoral scenes. All are clad in lush native fabrics of the company’s own creation. Interestingly, what motivated this concept of a doll was the desire to use leftover fabrics from her primary product of distinctive, high-end Filipino dress shirts (barong tagalog) for which the company has been the market leader in the world.
