ABSTRACT
The last two centuries have revealed a range of complex environmental challenges to forest communities across the planet. The sources of the problems have been factors such as varying weather systems, climate change, water diversions, water pollution, acid rain, desertification, logging, road or infrastructure construction, farm expansion, and even warfare. Combined, these impacts are exacting a considerable toll on forests planetwide.
