ABSTRACT

As new products are first developed, as was explained in chapter 5, they are first-hand built or custom made in the development and demonstration stages of product development. As the product becomes accepted by increasing numbers of consumers, a need rapidly arises to produce the product in ever-increasing numbers. Two events occur simultaneously allowing this increased production to occur. The first event is standardizing the product and the second event is the development of a more rapid assembly-line process. Although these events often happen simultaneously, each will be discussed separately.
