ABSTRACT

Today the MICEx is 6.88, yesterday it was 6.43. Most exchange offices sell dollars for nine to ten rubles. On the radio we hear that one exchange sells for fifteen rubles. There is not a panic yet, but all the people of our group talk of nothing else. No work—no contracts, no credit terms, and no invoices for prepayment. All the prices are in dollars, but payment is in rubles. So what rate? Some retail stores set prices at 9.5 for a dollar, the highest point of the corridor for this year declared by government and central bank yesterday.
