ABSTRACT
When the Ethiopian empire expanded its borders in the late nineteenth century, it laid claim to an eastern region called the Ogaden. Unfortunately for future peace, the Ogaden was mostly inhabited by nomadic Somali tribesmen who had no desire to be absorbed into the Ethiopian state.
