ABSTRACT
C. 600-500 B.C.E. The grand Celtic hill-fort of Heuneburg, overlooking the Danube River in Germany, is thriving. The discovery of pottery and wine vessels has shown that the community was trading with the Greeks of Massilia (present-day Marseilles).
