AhToy Ah Toy, 1829-1928, also known as Atoy, Attoy, Achoi, and Achoy. The best known Chinese woman in nineteenth-century American popular literature, Ah Toy reportedly immigrated alone from Hong Kong to San Francisco in 1849 at the age of twenty "to better her condition." Early writings describe her as being tall, well-built, and able to speak English, and as having bound feet.
