ABSTRACT
It was sweaty and muggy and squalid aboard the Ilyushin jet parked at Istanbul's Atatiirk International Airport, and had been for hours. The air-conditioning would not be turned on until the doors were locked for take-off, and there did not seem to be much prospect of that happening any time soon.
