ABSTRACT
In addition to being the main character in the songs “Churila and Prince Vladimir” and “Churila and Katerina,” Churila also appears in the song “Dyuk” as a competitor and foil to Dyuk. The bylina “Churila and Prince Vladimir” is relatively rare, appearing in about ten recordings, while “Churila and Katerina” exists in more than eighty variants.
