ABSTRACT
In addition to some discrete language teaching, there are many advantages in embedding the new language in school routines and linking it to other subject areas within the curriculum. The benefits include: using language for a genuine purpose, reinforcing learning, providing meaningful opportunities for children to work together creatively and gaining additional curriculum time for language learning. Adopting a cross-curricular approach can be highly motivational for many learners.
