ABSTRACT
The publication of On Literature and Art by Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin selected and compiled by the Chinese Writers Association and the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau (CCTB) is a big event in Chinese literature, art and Marxist literary theory circles. Literary criticism is a social discourse that influences writers, artists, readers and the public rather than an insignificant personal discourse. It is a wing to propel its development and also a bridge between writers, artists, readers and the general public. As an important part of literature and art, literary criticism is of great significance to prosperity and healthy development of literary and artistic creation. Just like literary and artistic creation, literary criticism also pertains to aesthetic ideology. Literary criticism in each era is undoubtedly conditioned by the cognitive level of contemporary men and the interest-driven ideological tendency of various social classes and strata.
