ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the activities which explore children's attitudes to what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, to stealing and cheating, and to violence and fighting. Other activities focus on people they admire and what characteristics heroes have. There is also an activity focusing on religious beliefs and activities which explore the subject of gambling. The chapter discusses the level of seriousness of certain actions and views about cheating. It considers the consequences of agreeing to do a dare, what qualities heroes have and discuss the reasons one admire people as heroes. The chapter compares and judges the qualities of different heroes. It explores attitudes to violence, attitudes to war and fighting, ways of dealing with conflict, attitudes to gambling, and reasons why people gamble. The chapter shows that people's values and beliefs are often determined by their religions and what responsible gambling means. It debates the arguments for and against the building of a new super casino.
