ABSTRACT

This chapter consists of activities that explore the qualities that a good friend has and that encourage the children to discuss what to do in situations in which they encounter problems with friends. There is also an activity for older children focusing on what is acceptable and unacceptable in close friendships. The chapter describes the qualities that make a person a good friend. It considers the qualities that a good friend has. Ask the children to work in groups of four or five. Give each group a piece of paper; ask them to write down five qualities that a good friend has. The chapter also discusses some situations involving problems with friends. It finally shows what one should do when they have problems with friends. Put the list of situations (below) on the board and ask groups to discuss what you should do in each case. Then share their suggestions in a class discussion.
