ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the topic of money management. It includes activities on wants and needs, on selling and swapping, on making choices and on deciding what is the best buy. The chapter share views on selling and swapping their belongings. It explains that they can sometimes raise money by selling your old toys, games or DVDs when they are short of money. The chapter helps to understand to compare prices when buying large items by inviting the children in pairs to imagine that they are going to buy a new bicycle, tablet or mobile phone. It also discusses how advertisers try to influence people by explaining that we are surrounded by advertisements and that, while advertisers may claim that the purpose of advertisements is to inform us about the products available for us to buy, their over-riding aim is to get us to spend our money and to buy whatever is being advertised.
