ABSTRACT

I dedicate this book to all strategists who have and will improve the world. This is because, when I began my professional career as a strategist, my main obstacle was the absence of an essential roadmap or guideline to aid me in the development of strategy. Several questions needed answers: What is the initial point of strategy development? What kinds of documents contain formal strategy, and without these documents how am I supposed to know if the strategy is completed or not? What is the theoretical basis, if any, for the experience-based recommendations found in some research monographs and textbooks? Unfortunately, I could not find a book that mapped from beginning to end these crucial points of the strategizing process. However, each new project that required the development of strategy was aided and made better by the preparations I had made on previous strategies. I gained leverage not only through these new experiences, but also because I was consciously formulating a theoretical foundation and methodological recommendations for what I was accomplishing during strategizing.
