ABSTRACT

This chapter lists analytical essays in alphabetical order, and covers all of colonial America's diverse peoples, wars, battles, and treaties to explore the diplomatic and military history of North America from 1512 to 1763, as well as Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and Swiss colonies. In addition to military history, Massachusetts's wars profoundly influenced its own political and economic life and decisively shaped Anglo-American relations in general. For the remainder of the war, the marine forces continued to serve at sea and on land in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, South America, and in the American colonies. The Mahicans played a role in King Williams' War and Queen Anne's War, and they furnished soldiers for the Americans during the Revolution. During the French and Indian War, and the American Revolutionary War, the Conoys lived with the Nanticokes and were, for the most part, absorbed by that tribe. After the Pequot War, Miantonomo joined the Mohegans and English in signing the Hartford Treaty.
