ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on separate areas of interest to the arts entrepreneur: Organizational design refers to the structure of an arts-related business, Career development explores some of the ways job seekers approach the employment market and what kind of tools they use to get hired and Future trends looks at some emerging business concepts in the arts and cultural areas that are relevant to arts entrepreneurship students and established business owners. Some arts organizations are making strategic decisions to expose detailed information about their company’s activities, such as the number of visitors to a museum or the amount of money raised towards a capital project. The Internal Revenue Service has rules about the length of time a company is required to retain its business records, including tax returns and documentation showing income and expenses. Many job announcements will request submission of three or more references along with people's other application materials.
