ABSTRACT

A contention in Ecological Design is that human society and its societal systems must themselves be regarded as an infrastructure that needs to be similarly biointegrated with other infrastructures to make our quatrobrid constructed ecosystem. In the present Anthropocene era, the most real and present danger to human society and life on Earth is anthropogenic, and relates to the progressive degradation of the global environment. A key element of anthropologic infrastructure is the highly complex and culturally diverse pattern of food consumption in human society. All humans and the multitude of socio-political, institutional, legislative and ideological systems of humankind make up what may be seen as our ‘anthropocentric infrastructure’. When human society has no sense of the complexity, interrelation or responsibility for ecological systems, it cannot be expected to act in defence of Nature.
