ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book explores the way of thinking about the dualisms. It also explores different attempts to build ladders and to disassemble and remove the walls, freeing up the various sets of neighbours to see one another for the first time, maybe shake hands and eventually learn of some common ground between them. In this general spirit of anti-dualism, a number of different thinkers have cracked their knuckles and set to work building ladders or dismantling the walls separating various sets of unfriendly neighbours. The book focuses on how Giddens constructed a ladder linking structure and agency together, offering to introduce the two neighbours so they could realise how they depend on each other and bring each other into being. It provides further thoughts on the future of archaeological theory and the relations people must continue to build.
