ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 outlines mixed methods research, the overall approach used in the study. It details the specific methods used to answer the research questions and aims. The chapter outlines the history and aims of the study, the museums and heritage sites in the United States, Australia and England at which visitor surveys and interviews were undertaken, how and why the sites were chosen and grouped into genres for analysis. It outlines the survey/interview questions, the coding process, statistical methods used through SPSS and the qualitative analyses that were undertaken. It highlights the specific and overall limitations of the study.
