ABSTRACT
Desiring-machines or assemblages produce bodies without secure images of themselves, without substantial presence in the way of assets or possessions or firm objectives. They are processes of organizing in which bodies, actions, and passions, expression (the machines, the things, the organs) come horizontally, and territories, forms, norms, periods, marks, stakes, claims (the rules) come vertically. Assemblage is thus a concept that allows us to think about the tension and dynamic between existing orders (quantitative, hierarchical systems) and the openings towards new orders, demanding new organization. Assemblages are thus forms of sociality that hold immanent proto-organizational potentials, entrepreneurially used in organization-creation. Particular sets of relations connect to other particulars, establish relations to them, on the basis of the joy they draw from connecting and the increased capacity to make, produce, create that follows, and transformative forces bring assemblages that are held together by desire, into becoming-organizations.
