ABSTRACT
For graduates, or print journalists starting out in radio or TV, the hardest adjustment can be breaking out of the literary mould imposed on us since our schooldays, writing essays and theses that are meant to be read to oneself, rather than out loud. Everything in broadcasting is written to be spoken, so it sounds natural to the ear and is easy to read out loud, without causing the reader to stumble over words and gasp for breath.
