ABSTRACT
Summarising and paraphrasing are normally used together in essay writing. Summarising aims to condense information to a suitable length, while paraphrasing means changing the wording of a text so that it is significantly different from the original source, without changing the meaning. These skills are needed to avoid the risk of plagiarism, and this unit practises them separately and together.
