ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in this book. The primary aim of the book is to provide the reader with enough understanding of social constructionism to enable them to tackle more difficult sources. It also includes an understanding of the areas that are problematic for social constructionism. The embodiment has in recent times received interest within social constructionism which is discussed in this chapter. The chapter focuses on the issues that are so problematic for social constructionism the relationship between the social realm and our psychology, agency and choice, the self and subjectivity, embodiment and affective experience, and the possibilities for developing a social constructionist psychology. However, older work in social psychology can provide social constructionism with a more detailed understanding of this relational self. The challenges of addressing embodied experience are somewhat different for macro and micro social constructionism.
