ABSTRACT
The psychological literature has traditionally treated the subject of human memory in general, and remembering in particular, in terms of individual cognitive processes which allow us to function appropriately in both individual and social settings. The psychological study of remembering is, however, becoming more realistic, more applied, and, therefore, more social.
