ABSTRACT
Up to this point in the book we have examined the nature of a range of phenomena that are typically regarded as relevant to the standard scales of assessment that were reviewed in Chapter 2. For instance, in Chapter 4 we examined ideomotor response, a response that is normally regarded as a relatively easy and simple task to perform; Chapters 5, 6, and 7 then looked at more complex and cognitively oriented items that tapped deeper levels of hypnotic responsiveness.
