ABSTRACT

This chapter helps people to: learn the differences between academic and business research reports; prepare the final research report; see how the research reports may be organized; combine written materials in an oral presentation. A research report is a special kind of writing, which entails detailed information, specialized terms, and sometimes mind-numbing amounts of data. It will help if people carefully explain the terms they are using and make sure that everything they write or say is easily understood by the intended audience. A written report usually has more detail than does an oral report. Oral presentations most often cover the essentials of the research and, similar to business reports, put the most emphasis on the findings and recommendations. For academic research, the oral presentation may be more detailed than would be the case for an oral research presentation in business.
